Weekending – Memorial Day

memorial day quotes | Memorial Day Quotes – Remembering Our Veterans; Happy Decoration Day ...

First, I want to mention how grateful and thankful I am for all of the men and women who have sacrificed their lives to keep us safe. I am keeping their families and loved ones in my thoughts today as well.

Second, while I still had to work today I am also thankful for the fact that there was no traffic on my way home and that I was able to spend some of this weekend with family and friends.

{The bride and her daughter}

Saturday was supposed to be the day that Carson and I ran our first 5k but we ended up not going because it was going to be way too crazy in the city with a huge graduation going on at the same time and our friends had a last minute wedding during the same time as well. I wasn’t able to attend the wedding because I had to work but the pictures look beautiful!  After work I went to my friends house to bake a cake for a last minute party that I decided to throw for my co-worker who had her last day on Sunday. We made a ricotta cake and what I thought would be a 2 hour activity turned into a 5 hour activity.

Sunday morning found me sleeping through church but we did manage to get to my parents for a late breakfast which was nice. Have I mentioned that my dad makes the best pancakes ever? While at my parents house I saw that I got a letter from IKEA congratulating me on my 1 year anniversary. This is ironic because I put in letter or resignation last week but it is still nice to be recognized.

Carson and I spent several hours deep cleaning the house and getting ready for the party. We had a good time and while it was nice to talk with everyone it also made me realize that we really need to invest in some party games.

Do you guys have any good suggestions for party games? I’m linking up with B Loved Boston and Champagne and Suburbs for Weekending.
